Deno Don Music Learns to Break the Loop on “Same Song”

There is a certain kind of song that only arrives once you have lived through the thing it is about. “Same Song,” the latest single from independent artist Deno Don Music, is one of those. It sits in the ache of an on-and-off relationship, the kind where love, heartbreak and hope keep coming back around in the same order, and it stays there long enough to be honest about it. “After 12” is still unfinished, which is part of what makes this such a good moment to meet Deno Don. You are catching an independent artist mid-sentence, working out what he wants to say and saying it anyway. “Same Song” is a strong place to start, and if it is any sign of where the rest of the album is headed, the back half is worth the wait.
